Finance Manager – are you our new Head of Finance?

Position Overview
MACN is seeking to engage a person who has a strong interest in working in an international environment with multinational companies and to support MACN’s agenda. We are looking for a profile with a solid financial background who has experience working at similar organizations as MACN (business associations, NGO sector) or in management consulting. You will take part in preparing and finalizing the internal as well as external reporting, which is done on a monthly, quarterly, and yearly basis. Part of MACN’s revenue comes from donor funding, and we seek someone who can lead the financial management and be responsible for coordinating external audits. You will also prepare and lead all financial reporting to the international Board of Directors. You will handle day-to-day financial activities with accounting, bookkeeping and set up processes so time registration on different projects works smooth and efficiently.
Responsibilities include:
- Support in preparing project budgets for international donors including government and corporate donors
- Prepare Monthly and quarterly reports on financial spend to the Board and internally
- Monitor the financial performance of downstream partners in project countries
- Project Manage project audits including audits of downstream partners
- Handle invoices, time sheets and receipts for all grant projects and partners
- Review and be a resource person for internal financial management systems
- Identifying areas for improvement within our workflows and business processes
- Building models/templates and taking part of the implementation of systems to support the financial reporting and daily financial operations
- Support organizational changes that affect finance, e.g., parental leave, potential sick leave, etc.
- Manage salary payments and financial management relating to the staff
- Be responsible for contractors relating to finance e.g., pension providers, financial systems

The Maritime Anti-Corruption Network (MACN) is a global business network working towards the vision of a maritime industry free of corruption that enable fair trade to the benefit of the society at large. Established by a small group of committed maritime companies, MACN has grown to include over 180 members globally and has become one of the pre-eminent examples of collective action to tackle corruption.
Today we have a Secretariat operating from our nice office in Christianshavn, Copenhagen, and that is where the day-to-day activities are happening. However, we also have a network of global partners and members around the world whom you will engage regularly.

You will report to the CEO, and you will be a part of a young team of nine. The place of work will be Christianshavn, Copenhagen and some international travel will be required.
What do we seek?
You are focused on details and use your accounting and reporting skills to empower the rest of the team to manage projects efficiently. You will lead the financial management work and improvements needed across the organization.
This position requires an energetic, dedicated, and detail-oriented person who can manage multiple tasks. You are a strong team-player with willingness to learn the work of the organisation as well as to support the team to execute excellent project management.
The business language is English, but we require the head of Finance to read and write the Danish language as it is sometimes needed. Knowledge of the Danish accounting regulation would be a benefit.
What do we require?
- Education: Master or bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting or similar field and strong academic and professional record.
- Skills: Advanced communication skills both written and oral in English and Danish. The candidate also needs to show analytical skills, critical thinking, and attention to detail.
- Technical expertise: Firm grasp of available tools and platforms relevant to financial management, including Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word), MS Teams, ERP system(s).
- Skilled in financial systems; dk, e-conomics
- Minimum 5 years’ experience with bookkeeping and accountancy, preferably in an international organization.
