MACN and CRFFN Sign Landmark MoU to Advance Integrity in Freight Forwarding

The Maritime Anti-Corruption Network (MACN), represented in Nigeria by the Convention on Business Integrity (CBi), has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Council for the Regulation of Freight Forwarding in Nigeria (CRFFN). This strategic partnership aims to embed integrity-driven reforms across Nigeria’s freight forwarding and logistics sector, a critical component of the country’s trade and supply chain competitiveness.
The agreement introduces a digital reporting platform developed by MACN, enabling freight forwarders to confidentially report cases of extortion or operational interference in real time. Supported by a structured case-management process and escalation pathways to authorities such as the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), the system ensures timely and accountable resolution of incidents.
Beyond technology, the collaboration includes a robust capacity-building programme to strengthen compliance knowledge among freight forwarding professionals. These efforts build on lessons from previous integrity reforms at Nigeria’s ports, which have significantly reduced operational bottlenecks and unregulated demands.
This MoU marks a major step toward improving transparency, predictability, and professional standards across land, sea, and air logistics corridors; reinforcing MACN’s commitment to fostering a maritime industry free of corruption.
