MACN API: Bringing data into members’ everyday systems
Over the years, MACN has built a unique dataset on corruption risks across the maritime sector. Through anonymous incident reporting, MACN has collected more than 70,000 reports of corrupt demands from over 1,350 ports worldwide, helping turn individual experiences into a broader understanding of where and how corruption risks occur.
Until now, members have primarily accessed these insights through MACN’s dashboards and other data tools. The MACN API creates another possibility: bringing the data directly into the systems and workflows members already use.
From data access to integration
An API allows two systems to communicate automatically. In practice, this means members can connect their own systems to MACN’s data and decide how and where the information is used within their organization.
There is no single model for how this should look. A member could, for example, use MACN data to:
- provide vessels with short risk briefings before arriving at a port
- incorporate corruption-risk insights into voyage planning or other operational platforms
- integrate the data into compliance or risk-management tools
- use it within internal analytics, automation or AI applications
The objective is simple: make relevant MACN insights available to the right people, at the right time, and through the systems they already use.
Built for different operational needs
The API gives members flexibility in deciding how much data they need and what they want to do with it. Some members may want to build their own internal solutions, while others may look at integrating selected insights into existing third-party platforms.
This opens up new possibilities for turning MACN’s collective data into practical information that can support better preparedness, compliance and operational decision-making.
Available to MACN members
API access is available to MACN members.
We are currently working with members to explore different integration approaches and practical use cases. If your organization is interested, get in touch with our Data Lead, Ignacio Kantor, at ikantor@macn.dk to discuss what an integration could look like within your existing systems and workflows.
