MACN Welcomes ABS, DNV and RINA as its First Classification Society Members

The Maritime Anti-Corruption Network (MACN) has welcomed ABS, DNV and RINA as the first classification societies to join the network.
The move follows a decision by MACN members at the General Assembly on 30 April 2026 to open membership to classification societies, broadening representation across the maritime value chain.
Classification societies play an important role throughout a vessel’s lifecycle, including design, construction, maintenance, surveys and certification. Their technical expertise, global reach and engagement across the maritime industry will support MACN’s collective efforts to address corruption risks and promote integrity, transparency and responsible business practices.
By joining MACN, ABS, DNV and RINA will collaborate with shipowners, operators, cargo interests, ports and other maritime stakeholders. Their participation will strengthen information sharing and contribute practical perspectives to Collective Action initiatives across the industry.
The expanded membership reflects the interconnected nature of global shipping and the need for collaboration across different parts of the maritime value chain to support fair and transparent trade.
