MACN Welcomes New Board Members

May Jensen (Director of Risk Management, The CSL Group Inc.) and Leonid Zalenski (Chief Operating Officer, Columbia Shipmanagement Ltd) have been elected to the MACN Board of Directors.
Their election took place during MACN’s Spring Members Meeting in Athens on 29–30 April, which brought together over 190 member representatives, guest speakers, and partners.
Øistein Jensen, MACN Chair, shared his appreciation for the newly elected members:
“May and Leonid bring exactly the kind of depth and breadth we value on the MACN Board. Between May’s expertise in risk management and marine insurance and Leonid’s decades of hands-on maritime and ship management experience, they strengthen our collective ability to drive meaningful change in the fight against corruption. I look forward to working closely with both of them.”
May Jensen serves as Director of Risk Management at The CSL Group (“CSL”), a privately-owned Canadian shipping company headquartered in Montreal, which operates a global fleet of specialised self-unloading vessels, offshore transhippers and bulk carriers. May joined CSL in 2013 and is responsible for the company’s risk management strategy and its implementation, including global insurance placements and claims handling. She brings to the Board over 15 years of international marine insurance experience gained across Canada and abroad, including five years with a leading transportation mutual in London. May holds an LLM and LLB from the University of Copenhagen and an LLM in Maritime Law from the University of Southampton.
Captain Leonid Zalenski brings 20 years of seagoing experience to the Board, including eight years in command. He moved ashore in 1999 to lead a Manning and Training Office before joining Columbia Shipmanagement in 2004, where he has held various positions within the organisation. Since August 2021 he has served as Group COO. Captain Zalenski has in-depth knowledge of ship management, incident investigations, and maritime quality assurance, and is actively involved in industry forums and committees including INTERTANKO, the Cyprus Shipping Chamber, and MACN.
The Board is pleased to welcome May and Leonid. MACN remains grateful for the dedication and active participation of its members, which continues to drive the strength and progress of the Network.
