MACN’s Next Generation of Seafarers Launches in the Philippines
MACN has returned from an inspiring visit to the Philippines, where we met with the seafarers’ union Associated Marine Officer’s and Seamen’s Union of the Philippines (AMOSUP), as well as MACN Members and training institutions including Höegh Autoliners, NYK Line-TDG Maritime Academy, Jebsen PTC, Inc., and others.
We’re proud to launch a new initiative supported by the ITF Seafarers’ Trust called the Next Generation of Seafarers. MACN has developed an e-learning course designed to equip cadets with the knowledge to identify and resist illicit payments throughout their education and careers. By providing insights into key anti-corruption legislation, their MLC rights, and real-life case studies, we believe this is a strong first step in preparing young seafarers to resist corruption and pitfalls during their cadet training and recruitment.
We are offering this training free of charge to any interested maritime institution, and are now rolling it out in Bangladesh, India, and the Philippines. At MACN, we believe in a maritime industry built on transparency, safety, and courage. This is just the beginning!
