MTLS and MACN Launch New Partnership in Egypt’s Ports
Today marks a significant milestone in the fight against corruption in the maritime sector in Egypt. The قطاع النقل البحري واللوجستيات – Maritime Transport and Logistics Sector (MTLS) and Maritime Anti-Corruption Network (MACN) have officially signed a collaboration protocol at a ceremony in Alexandria.
This partnership is built on a shared commitment to transparency, integrity, and practical implementation. As part of the protocol, MTLS has assigned dedicated focal points at major ports within its area of responsibility. These focal points will work closely with MACN and its members to implement the protocol, address integrity challenges, and ensure swift, coordinated responses to any integrity challenges.
Key highlights of the protocol include:
- Training and capacity-building programs to promote integrity and compliance.
- Clear incident reporting mechanisms and rapid escalation mechanism.
- A shared “Stop Corruption” campaign, with visible materials on vessels and in ports.
- Ongoing collaboration between MTLS port focal points and MACN, along with its local partner, Eldib Pandi.
This is a major step forward for the maritime sector in Egypt. Together, MTLS and MACN are setting a new standard for integrity, accountability, and partnership between the public and private sectors.
