Navigating New Trade Corridors: MACN’s GCNP Advisor Speaks at Karachi Port Trust Seminar
How can shipping lines and terminal operators capitalise on emerging transit opportunities while navigating evolving regional dynamics?
Strengthening port resilience and supporting maritime stability remain key priorities for the shipping industry.
Syed Tanvir Ahmad, Senior Advisor to Global Compact Network Pakistan (GCNP) and the Maritime Anti-Corruption Network (MACN), recently participated as a speaker at a seminar organised by Karachi Port Trust, attended by approximately 200 industry stakeholders.
During the seminar, Tanvir highlighted emerging opportunities for shipping lines, terminal operators, and stevedores arising from changing international transit corridors and trade flows to the Central Asian and CIS markets. Discussions also covered current transit developments involving Iran and the key considerations that shipping lines and consignees should continue to assess when planning regional operations.
Opening the session, Tanvir introduced the work of GCNP-MACN and showcased the role of MACN’s global HelpDesk network in supporting maritime stakeholders to address integrity and operational challenges across key trade corridors.
Alongside the event, Tanvir met with the Chairman of Karachi Port Trust and Mr Yunas, General Manager Administration & Legal, to discuss opportunities for future collaboration and initiatives aimed at promoting efficient, transparent, and resilient maritime trade.
