Strengthening Integrity in Maritime Inspections
This week, MACN, in collaboration with the Secretariat of the Latin American Agreement of Viña del Mar, hosted an integrity workshop with over 70 participants from Prefectura Naval Argentina. The workshop brought together senior professionals involved in flag State control across various specialties, as well as port State control officers, ISPS supervision officers, and pollution inspectors.
The workshop focused on key topics such as:
- The International Maritime Organization (IMOs) expectations for ship inspections
- The global anti-corruption framework and Argentina’s legal landscape
- MACN’s regional initiatives
- Insights from MACN’s global incident data
A special thanks to Prefecto General Hugo Cafaro, Secretary of the Latin American Agreement of Viña del Mar, Prefecto General Carlos Salaburu, Director General of Maritime and Port Security, and MACN Local Partner Fernando Basch for their invaluable contributions in making this workshop a success.
Collaboration is key to driving meaningful change in the maritime industry, and we look forward to continuing this important work together!
